MMC Rules

1. The competition is organized by Meridian Sp. z o.o.

2. The competition is conducted in two categories:
   •  Pythagoras – for primary school students (grades 5-6)
   •  Thales – for middle school students (for grades 2 – 3)

3. The questions will cover primary and middle school curriculum.
   
4. It is forbidden to use calculators.
   
5. The participation in the competition is free of charge for all students.
   
6. In both categories the test consists of 27 closed questions and 3 open questions.
   
7. The time of the competition is 75 minutes.
   
8. The dates of the competition are as follows:

   1. Pythagoras – for primary school students – 14 th February 2009 ( Saturday)
   2. Thales – for middle school students – 21 st February 2009 ( Saturday)
      
9. The number of registered students from one school cannot exceed 25.
   
10. The deadline for registration is 21 st December 2008 (Monday).
    
11. Every school will receive information concerning the date and the place of the competition. The tests will be organized in Warsaw premises for students from Warsaw, and Lódz Meridian for those from Lódz.
    
12. We kindly inform that the previous year tasks can be found on mmc.meridian.edu.pl
    
13. The winners of both categories will be granted with attractive prizes. Moreover, top 30 students will be offered to attend Meridian MasterClasses which will involve English and Mathematics classes. An eminent math professor will deliver the math lessons at Meridian School. There will be no charge for these lectures. In order to initiate the lessons there is a minimum required number of 8 students.
    
14. First three schools will be granted with printers. The condition is that no fewer than 10 students participate in the competition.
    
15. Best students will receive certificates confirming their participation and position they gained.
    • Positions from 1 to 30 - excellent mark
    • Positions from 31 to 75 – very good
    • Positions from 76 to 100 – good mark
    
16. We would like to ask teachers from other schools for help in conducting the competition. We hope you will be able to assist us and we attach an application form. Teachers who are interested in assisting are kindly asked to fill in the form together with students' registration form.
    
17. In case of any doubts the Committee reserves the right to make a final decision.
